Sundays

“Lifting up the name of Jesus over Wolverhampton.”

What will the worship service be like?

Hope City Church is a place where we keep it very simple. We’re relaxed but focused. We don’t need to be flashy or put on big productions for people to meet God. We believe that Jesus is enough. Here’s what you can expect during a typical worship gathering:

Singing.

During the Gathering, our worship team will lead us in a number of songs. We strive to balance new and original music with some of the great hymns of our faith. As we sing our focus is not ourselves or the people around us, but on Jesus. So no matter what kind of voice you have, sing out with all of your heart.

Teaching.

We believe that the Bible is God’s gift to us to show us who He is and what He’s done for us. Every week, the teaching is straight from the Bible in a way that is helpful and challenging.

Communion.

Communion is something that Jesus began the night before he died as a way for his followers to remember and participate in his death on the cross. At Hope City Church, we celebrate communion together every other week. We welcome all Christians who actively trust Jesus for salvation, who are willing to turn away from their sin to receive communion with us. Each week, families and groups of friends come forward and serve each other a small bit of bread and wine as a way of participating in and identifying with the body and blood of Jesus.

Prayer.

One of the greatest privileges we have as followers of Jesus is being able pray with boldness and confidence. We’ll pray together throughout our time and if you would like to have someone pray for you, any of our leadership team would be honoured to pray with you after the worship gathering.

The Creed.

Each Sunday we read from one of the famous Christian creeds or confessions of faith.  Reciting these great statements of Biblical truth together has been part of Christian practice for centuries.  We find it both honours the Lord and edifies us as a worshipping community.

Giving.

We believe that the New Testament teaches that giving is a grace from God that we can grow in rather than an obligation. During the offering you may give whatever you feel led to give to support the ministry.  If you are our guest, please do not feel obligated to give anything financially.

What kind of people make up Hope City Church?

What you’ll encounter when you attend Hope City Church is a diverse biblical community where people seek to know and love God, live in community with others and transform the world by serving our city as we think Jesus would. Practically speaking, that means the some of us are just checking out Christianity for the first time, while others have been in church their whole lives. Hope City Church members span different ethnicities, ages and backgrounds. Everyone is welcome.

What about my kids?

Hope City Church is a family-friendly environment. We believe that children and young people are a blessing from God and are a vital part of every local church. As such, the kids and young people stay in for worship, communion and the creed before heading out for their sessions. Families are encouraged to worship together. We know that having kids in worship with us brings some extra “kid noise” with it – and we like it that way. We love having families with kids of all ages worshiping together with us!

The Hope City Kids sessions are fun packed and Bible centred with a hint of apologetics, aimed at helping our children engage with the world from the security of a Biblical worldview.
